In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, I thought I would reminisce on some of the most romantic places I’ve visited throughout my travels. Whether you have a significant other or not, these locations ranging from iconic cities to sun drenched beaches are sure to inspire the romantic in all of us.

Rue Saint Antoine in Cannes, France
CANNES, FRENCH RIVIERA
Best known for its annual film festival and being a popular escape for the rich and famous, Cannes is a surprisingly intimate seaside town that oozes romance. Its charming cafes, boutique hotels, quiet alleys and stunning views of the French Riviera provide the perfect backdrop for stealing a kiss. You’ll find several restaurants along Rue Saint Antoine where you can enjoy delicious French cuisine and a glass of bubbly with your lover.
ARUBA
Aruba (pictured in the cover photo) is an excellent option if you’re looking for a romantic destination that combines warm weather and plenty to see and do. In addition to lounging on its many beautiful white sand beaches you can also go horseback riding, off roading, scale a volcano or visit the caves in the national park. For dinner, head to Moomba’s and enjoy a quiet seaside dinner. If you’re not too tired, you can dance the night away at the open air bar right next door!
VENICE, ITALY
The romantic in you cannot help but come out as soon as you arrive in Venice. Take an iconic cruise through the winding canals, enjoy dinner for two at an intimate cafe then take an evening stroll through Piazza San Marco. You’re likely to hear a violinist playing classic tunes or catch a couple slow dancing in the square.
TULUM, MEXICO
There are plenty of romantic beach destinations to choose from, but Tulum stands out for me. Book yourself a beach bungalow and spend your days sipping margaritas and eating guacamole made to order right under your cabana. Once the sun goes down, treat yourself to a candlelit dinner at one of Tulum’s many world renown restaurants.
PARIS, FRANCE
Although there is significantly more hustle and bustle in Paris than some of the other destinations on this list, Paris continues to be one of the most romantic cities in the world. The cafes, gardens, museums, history, architecture even the light all provide the perfect backdrop to enjoy a truly romantic experience.
AMALFI COAST, ITALY
One of the most romantic places I’ve ever visited is the Amalfi Coast. The lush hillsides are decorated with beautiful homes, hotels and boutiques. The sweeping views of the deep blue sea will take your breath away. You may find it hard to narrow down which stretch of coastline you want to stay, but you really can’t go wrong! There are also ample seaside dining options. Ristorante L’Antica Cartiera in Ravello is an excellent choice!
SINTRA, PORTUGAL
You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a fairy tale when you arrive to the charming town of Sintra. The colorful castles, sidewalk cafes and beautiful sweeping views provide the perfect setting for a romantic retreat.
CASTRICUM, NETHERLANDS
The small seaside town of Castricum is like something straight out of a storybook. It’s only 30 minutes from Amsterdam by train, but it feels worlds away. Hop on your bikes and head to the beach for sunset and enjoy dinner for two with a view.
LAURO, ITALY
This quiet town is nestled in Italy’s hillside not far from the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. Grab a table for two at Pasticceria Santaniello and sip some champagne while watching the locals pass by. Then turn your fairy tale into a reality with a stroll through Lancellotti Castle.
RONDA, SPAIN
Ronda Spain is a very small town, but I think that’s what makes it is such a romantic destination. Take in the stunning views form Puente Nuevo Bridge, sip rose at a quiet café, enjoy a candlelit dinner at a hillside restaurant then take a slow stroll under the stars with the faint sound of violins playing in the background. Whether you stay at a hotel in town or rent a room at a nearby vineyard, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience.
CAYO SANTA MARIA, CUBA
All inclusive resorts aren’t usually my first choice when traveling. But, every once in a while they can be a nice option for enjoying a few carefree days of sun, sand and sea. Cayo Santa Maria in Cuba is home some beautiful resorts where your biggest decision will be whether to start your day with a massage or a dip in the pool!
WILDERSWIL, SWITZERLAND
Escape to the Swiss Alps for an unforgettable getaway for two. Book a room in the quiet town of Wilsderswil and if you’re lucky, you might just be the only people you see! Spend a day in the snow then warm up with some mulled wine and a hearty meal in the neighboring town of Interlaken
SANTA TERESA, BRAZIL
The hillside town of Santa Teresa is the perfect place to enjoy a couple’s getaway. The colorful homes and boutique hotels that line the cobble stone streets are beyond charming. There are also a ton of delicious restaurants to choose from. For upscale Brazilian fare head to Térèze. Enjoy the best

BRUGES, BELGIUM
You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time when you first lay eyes on this adorable city. Start your romantic stay with a carriage ride for two through the cobble stone streets. Then grab a table for at one of several restaurants along the canal.
TALKEEKNA, ALASKA
The small Alaskan town of Talkeetna is the perfect place to reconnect with nature and each other. Rent a cozy cabin in the woods and enjoy watching the sunset over Mount Denali. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the northern lights!
