Confession! I’m not a fan of working out. I have never enjoyed the gym and I’d rather do just about anything than go for a run. And with traveling so frequently, getting into a routine can be a challenge. I’m basically in holiday mode from Halloween until Valentine’s Day. Then reality hits that warmer weather is around the corner and I can’t hide under oversized coats, scarves and sweaters anymore!
Luckily, I have good genes and I’m able to get back into shape relatively quickly – thanks mom and dad! I also eat pretty healthy most of the time. But I’m not invincible, nor am I a twenty something and it reaches a point where I have to put some effort in and actually move my body!
Thankfully, I found a solution a little over a year ago that has been a game changer! It’s fun, uplifting, incredibly convenient and completely free! What is this magical program? Drum roll please…it’s YouTube! Specifically, the Popsugar Fitness channel on YouTube. It is seriously the best! (In case you’re wondering, this is NOT a sponsored post, I’m just a true fan and wanted to share!)
WHY I LOVE POPSUGAR FITNESS
Given that I’m gym and running averse, the fact that I can just open an app and instantly have hundreds of fun, unique and effective workout routines taught by a range of instructors all for free is awesome. It’s like having a private class right in the comfort of my own home or hotel room!
There are a variety of workouts to choose from ranging in length and intensity. Some routines utilize light weights, but many are equipment free making them so easy to do anywhere even when you’re traveling. All you need is a WiFi connection!
Squeeze in a quick 15 minute ab routine or try a 45 minute total body workout. They have it all! The 30 minute classes are my sweet spot. I can easily do them after work and they’re short enough that they don’t feel like a burden to do when I’m traveling. I try to work out at least 4 times a week regardless of where I am in the world. The fact that it’s right at my fingertips makes it easier for me to stick to a routine than if I had to go to a gym or brave the elements and workout outdoors.
I know this may not be for everyone, but it has really worked for me. The convenience and variety just can’t be beat!
